Rapport, café, bar and kitchen opening on Capitol Hill this summer

Seattle's first self-pour wine & beer experience

initial opening menu offers local artisan coffee, takeout, retail wine, beer and cocktails

For Immediate Release: June 3, 2020

Seattle native David Clawson formally announced this week the opening of his long planned café, bar and kitchen, Rapport, in the former Roy Street Coffee & Tea site on north Capitol Hill.  Construction resumed in early May 2020 and is on track for a planned July opening.

"We are excited to open this wonderful community spot, with an initial focus on artisan coffee, chef-driven grab-and-go and Rapport@Home, our evening takeout meal experiences plus retail wine, beer and craft cocktails rounding out the mix. Our philosophy is based on great hospitality in a convivial environment; we originally thought we'd be welcoming guests freely and spontaneously into this beautifully re-imagined communal meeting place, but that is yet to come. While we are excited for the days of in-house dining to return, in the meantime, we are focusing this spirit into exceptional small batch roasted coffee creations, and terrific take away food and beverage offerings." explains David.

The full Rapport in-house experience includes over 100+ artisan wines and beers by-the-glass, poured directly by guests at will, along with unique "barreled & bottled" craft cocktails and food by our Chef Mike Law, previously executive chef of Sitka & Spruce.

From an expertly baked, warm raspberry muffin with your perfectly frothed latte, to dinner for four with a hand selected bottle of red or white wine that you've never tasted before, Rapport has inspiration for every aspect of daily enjoyment, no matter your mood.

The Rapport Bar & Kitchen core team encompasses:

David Clawson – Founder & Managing Director

(Seattle born & raised)

David is an entrepreneur with a love of great artisan food & beverages. Belying an extensive business background, he followed his passion and French experience at Le Cordon Bleu Paris by opening The Remedy Wine Bar & Kitchen, a Parisian inspired wine bar in London. After 15 years in Europe, traveling and tasting widely, David has brought his keen palate back to his native Seattle to begin a new adventure.

Chef Mike Law – Executive Chef

Originally from North Carolina, Mike has lived and worked in the Seattle area for the last eight years after stints in his home state, California, Florida and Germany. Chef Law was chef & co-owner of Bourbon & Bones in Ballard, chef at The Wandering Goose, Seattle and Sitka & Spruce w/ Matt Dillon. Food style at Rapport is adventuresome, interesting, approachable yet elevated, understandable and recognizable.

Mark Eilinger – Operations Director

With over 20 years of experience, Mark was instrumental in leading two local restaurant groups, Cactus and Hop & Drops, during their growth phases. Mark is a hospitality leader who under stands the importance of delivering a consistently excellent experience. He has affection for craft beer and cocktails and is looking forward to sharing that passion with our guests.

Arnold Shain – Founder

Restaurant Group

There aren't many accolades that haven't been said about Arnold, he is certainly the restaurant development guy you want on your team. We have found they are all true and then some. From ideation and the all-important numbers modeling (that's how he first brings ideas to life) and pulling the core management, culinary and marketing team together for David, he led the way. He continues to steer and navigate during calm seas or tempests. His wine preference tends towards full bodied New World reds, he looks forward to David's knowledgeable and dynamic wine recommendations at Rapport.
