From the Macedonian city of Naoussa (potentially pronounceable), made from the local grape Xinomavro (say it with us: ksee-NOH-mah-vroh) made by the almost impossible to pronounce Apostolos Thymiopoulos. Think of xinomavro as a cross between Barolo and great Red Burgundy – with the acidity and tannins to age gracefully for decades like Nebbiolo yet delicate and complex like fine Pinot Noir. Who needs France and Italy anyway.
